  • Steven Machtinger

    Dr. Machtinger, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine completed residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Stanford. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is the current president of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation of Northern Californiaand the president-elect of the Western Society of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He taught residents and fellows at Stanford as adjunct clinical associate professor of Pediatrics. He is a recipient of the Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Dr. Machtinger has contributed research articles to peer-reviewed journals and review chapters to allergy textbooks. He is a frequent lecturer to medical professionals and interested lay groups. For relaxation Dr. Machtinger enjoys walking with his wife, entertaining his granddaughters, and playing the acoustic guitar.


    Dr. Machtinger is available to see patients Mondays-Wednesdays. 

  • Dean Kardassakis

    Dr. Kardassakis has been an associate of our practice since 1998. A third-generation San Franciscan, he attended Lowell High School and the University of California, Berkeley. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree at Berkeley followed by a master’s degree at Stanford. A graduate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dr. Kardassakis also completed his residency in Internal Medicine there. He then completed fellowship program in Allergy and Immunology at UCSF. He has served as president of the Northern California Allergy Association. Dr. Kardassakis enjoys spending time with his wife and his rescue dog, who he claims is part Australian heeler and part genius.


    Dr. Kardassakis is available to see patients Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

  • Vivian Saper

    Dr. Vivian Saper received her medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed pediatric residency training at Stanford and fellowships in Allergy and Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology at UCSF and Stanford. She is board-certified in Pediatrics, Adult and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology, and Pediatric Rheumatology. Dr. Saper maintains her Stanford affiliation in allergy and pediatric rheumatology and continues academic clinical research work in these fields. Dr. Saper has been associated with our practice since 2010.


    Dr. Saper is available to see patients on Tuesdays.
